New classroom writing tool through Google

Dr. Kalianne Neumann, OSU assistant professor of educational technology, learned about an instructional strategy for teaching English sentence structure to Deaf students, where students color coded the parts of speech. Although many classrooms have adopted Google technologies, there was not a Google tool to easily color code online.

A passion rooted in aviation

Aviation runs in Josh Haynes’ blood. With a grandfather who piloted in the Air Force and a father who flew for US Airways, Josh was always around planes or listening to stories about flying. As he grew up, he developed a deep passion for aviation and knew he wanted to pursue a career in that field. The aerospace administration and operations senior started his journey at Texas Tech University as a psychology major, but he never quit flying. “I always found psychology interesting. But I was doing my flying on the side and having a lot more fun with it,” Josh said. “I made the switch and came here and fully committed to flying.”

OSU establishes premier partnership with Air Line Pilots Association

Oklahoma State University has established a professional development alliance with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which designates OSU as one of only 12 universities across the country selected to participate in the organization’s outreach mentor program. The OSU aviation program and the OSU Flying Aggies now hold the ALPA Aviation Collegiate Education (ACE) Club distinction. Oklahoma State is the first and only college in the Big 12 Conference to receive this honor.

OSU strengthens ties with Sweden’s Uppsala University

The OSU College of Education, Health and Aviation and College of Human Sciences welcomed two scholars from Sweden’s Uppsala University to campus last month. Dr. Martin Karlberg, senior lecturer in the Department of Education and Education Studies, and Dr. Henrik Edgren, head of the Department of Education and senior lecturer, spent a week immersing themselves in American culture, connecting with colleagues of similar disciplines and exploring opportunities for collaboration between Uppsala and Oklahoma State.

OSU educational technology faculty and students recognized at international conference

Faculty and students in the Oklahoma State University educational technology program were recognized with four awards at the 2019 Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) international conference held last month in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the top organization for the field of educational technology, AECT includes educators, instructional designers and professionals who provide leadership and advise policy makers in order to sustain a continuous effort to enrich teaching and learning.

Honorees were selected by the college’s Student Affairs Committee, and they will be recognized at the College of Education, Health and Aviation Excellence Awards reception on Friday, May 10 at 3 p.m.

OSU Flight Team Hosts Aviation Merit Badge Day

OSU educational technology online master’s program receives top 10 ranking

Oklahoma State University has been recognized as having one of the top 10 online master’s in educational technology degree programs by College Values Online. Selection criteria includes accreditation, rankings in major publications and affordability. Fifty schools were chosen and ranked based on raw affordability, and OSU came in ninth on the recently published list.

OSU Adds Cirrus Aircraft SR20 to Flight Training Fleet

Oklahoma State University has announced the selection of the technologically-advanced Cirrus Aircraft SR20 as an addition to its existing aviation program fleet. This is the first partnership between Cirrus and OSU, resulting in five new aircraft for the well-established aviation program.
